Friday, March 2, 2001 08:28 a.m. this movie sounds great. Sunday, February 18, 2001 12:49 a.m. natolee got me the jawbreaker/crimpshrine split and sneakily came over hours before i thought she'd get here. today was a good day. tomorrow mehran and i are set to jam. it will be widows and orphans practice session #2 1/4. Tuesday, February 13, 2001 11:21 p.m. i don't think i ever heard the words strategic alliances ever spoken before i moved to l.a. Thursday, February 8, 2001 10:57 p.m. i just cut my finger on the glass from a picture frame that mysteriously fell off my bookshelf this evening. the glass didn't break or anything, but it fell out of the frame and i decided to clean it off with windex. when i did, i cut my thumb and now it's painful and itching. the other night i had the pleasure of seeing elliott smith at the silverlake lounge. natolee called me a few hours before the show started and told me about the show and that it was $8. i had planned on going to bed early, but i got dressed and headed over to silverlake by myself. normally i hate going to shows by myself and thankfully i don't have to do it very often, but i had a good time this time. the bar wasn't very crowded. i guess not many people knew about it and the secret show was pretty secret. lou barlow opened and he was much beter solo than when i saw him with sebadoh a few years ago. he was all nervous and apologized saying, "this is so stupid, i've done this a thousand times and i'm still so nervous". a japanese girl named mia something played next and almost put me to sleep. she had a good voice, but she played for a really long time and sounded too joan baez-y. good lyrics though. she kept trying to get the people in the back to shut up cos they were being really loud and after a few songs she stood on her guitar case and asked them if that was better. at 12, elliott smith started. i don't know what's up with him, but willie nelson is not the person to look to for fashion advice. braids, a beard, and a bandage mistaken for a bandana. he had a bandage across his head and explained that he had a cracked his head open to the bone that morning closing a door and walking out of the door at the same time. "blood everywhere." he played about 8 or 10 new songs and that was the entire set. most of them were really good. i'm interested to hear how the songs will sound with a band backing him up. Monday, February 5, 2001 04:47 p.m. after work today i went to smc to but my books for next semester. besides the fact that the bookstore was totally crowded, my books ended up costing $180 and i still haven't bought my $40+ math book because i'm waiting to go back to see if they get any used copies in. that's a lot of money. my art history book is seriously the heaviest and biggest book i've ever seen in my life. i feel like the kid from the never ending story or something. something sort of good happened though when i got home - i got a letter back from my appeal for my speeding tiicket and they reduced it from $135 to $77 and gave me until the begining of march to pay for it. horray for well written letters! Sunday, February 4, 2001 12:34 p.m. the show last night was decent. black cat music were alright. it was the first time i'd seen them, so i don't have much to compare it too, but they seemed off or something. could have been that the singer was sick or that all the songs sound the same. i have no idea what was up with the opening bands. i think it was 3 joke metal bands (haha) with all the same members or something. the drum solo was funny, but you know, it was a high school metal band playing for 30 minutes. well, 3 high school metal bands playing for over an hour. i bought the new manhunter dvd yesterday. this is how much of a wuss i am...i watched the extra featurette thing at natolee's last night and when i got home i was gonna watch the full movie, but i was too scared. i remember all these images of that movie when i was younger and how scary the killer was and after watching the interviews with him, i had to wait to watch it at another time. there you have it. Saturday, February 3, 2001 01:02 p.m. ah, a new archived month, new entries. i can't remember if i've linked this before, but it's one of the funniest things that i've seen on the internet. tonight i'm going to koo's with natolee to see dead and gone and black cat music. should be fun. i have to go now because flashback is on tv and i have to change the channel. hey, thanks for the guestbook entries. |
